Once I have a track beatmapped in acid I use a 16th note grid, 32nd note grid etc to create stutters, re-order kicks and snares etc add effects. I prefer Acid Pro's beatmapping it's non complex and simple. I've used Ableton Live I don't like it as a DAW nor do I like it to create remixes/mixtapes/mashups all because of their warping technique. acd project file where I can open it up and see each song on a separate track with envelopes for each crossfade/mix, effects (they use izotope effects) there is a similar feature but only for Scratch live users (the ones who use turntables and the scratch live sound card interface) and it has been poorly supported. I would love to be able to use my Pioneer DDJ-SX hardware along with Serato DJ and be able to record a live mix in Serato DJ and have it saved as.
And the ability to go back now to this project and keep the hot songs and replace the weaker songs with new hot songs for my podcasts and satellite radio show. The level of control over every aspect of the mix is nothing short of amazing being able to use tempo rolls/changes, Slicing up segments to mash things up a bit using simple key commands. I can't tell you what a breath of fresh air it is to create mixtapes using acid pro. This led me back to Acid Pro, I upgraded yesterday to 7.0 from 6.0 for 84.00. There are no mixtape solutions I have to do everything in one take and after replaying my mix I want to change an effect pan, adjust volume, eq, sometimes even an entire song and I can't do it.
